GeIL plans on entering the SSD market soon with two of their own offerings, the S2 and Zenith.
The S2 drives are targeting the entry-level market, which uses a SATA II 3 Gbps controller. Sequential read/write speeds are at 280 MB/s and 270 MB/s with capacities coming in at 60 GB or 120 GB.
The Zenith S3 series is a performance product and uses the SandForce SATA III 6 Gbps controller. Capacities will range from 60 GB to 480 GB. Manufacturer data on speeds haven’t been released but given that this is a 2nd generation SandForce controllers, sequential read/write should exeed 500 MB/s with 60K random 4K writes.
The drives should be released at around March of this year. No info on pricing just yet.
