Computerworld just posted up a review of Intel’s new 520 Series of SSDs, code named ‘Cherryvville.’ Using 25 nm NAND flash, it sports the SandForce SF-2281 controller, and is capable of some pretty incredible speeds. According to Intel’s spec sheet, the drive can deliver 4K random read/write at 50K and 80K IOPS. Sequential read/writes clocks in at 550MB/s and 520MB/s, respectively.
If these numbers are accurate, then it would make this drive even faster than the Corsair Force Series 3 and GT series. However, we predict the drive will be near identical in speed, in terms of real world usage.
The new 520 Series SSD retails for $149 for a 60GB model, $229 for 120GB, $369 for 180GB, $509 for 240GB and $999 for 480GB.
