OCZ releases an IOPS firmware update to their Octane line of SSD drives, significantly boosting IOPS speeds.
The OCZ Vertex Plus is a budget SSD that came at a time when the industry was transitioning to faster drives. Ultimately, it never found a footing in the market as the discount never really justified its lackluster performance.
One of OCZ’s earlier drives marketed towards the budget conscious consumer. While performance is mediocre by today’s standards, they’re still a few steps ahead of hard disks.
Using OCZ’s own Indilinx Everest memory controller, the Octane proves to be a good first effort from the company but flaws in its lower capacity write speeds hinders its widespread adoption.
OCZ Agility 3 SATA III Solid State Drives are designed and built to provide an exceptional balance of performance and value. The Agility 3 Series implements the cutting-edge SATA 6Gbps interface to deliver excellent sequential and random data transfer rates, significantly improving your computing experience over hard drives.
OCZ Vertex 3 is based off of the SandForce SF-2281 paired with 25 nm MLC NAND flash. While on paper, the speeds are impressive but the drive suffers from difficulty with incompressible read/write data. Power draw is also a bit high as well as the price compared to another drive with slightly better performance, the Crucial M4.
The Solid 3 is the littlest brother of OCZ’s mainstream SSD line and as such, is targeted towards the budget consumer. While slower than the rest, it still manages to keep up respectively, although with current SSD prices the way they are, it makes little sense to choose this over the Agility 3 or Vertex 3.
